Lightning Links: Payday for Palat

Anybody want a peanut? Just ask Andre The Giant Ondrej Palat after inking a $10 million, three-year extension.

The contract is far from peanuts and also far from pricey, and he’s getting a twin deal of his Calder Trophy co-finalist and teammate Tyler Johnson. It’s so fair that you wonder why they just didn’t sign the same day.

Maybe this can be a Toews-Kane relationship one day, and aw shucks, Palat turned on the charm when he spoke to the Lightning:

“He’s one of my best friends,” Palat said. “It’s awesome he’ll continue to play here with me. I’m really happy for him.”

I kid, but Palat and Johnson have been amazeballs this season, rescuing the season with the help of Ben Bishop when the club should have been doomed.

The pals will head to Las Vegas this month to see if either of them win or if that pesky Nathan MacKinnon takes it away. Make sure to tweet out your Manzielian Vegas photos, boys. Odds are that Paul Bissonette will be found somewhere there giving visiting NHLers the tour.
